Hyperbole and a Half: Pre-Post Transition Post -
Hearing from Allie Brosh has become this sacred, important thing. I know on the one hand we all want her brain here with us all the time, because watching her see the world helps us feel seen too (in the specific way that’s only brought on by people who’re good with words), but I kind of like an annual post. I don’t like the reason for her slow pace, obviously, but there’s something very intimate and instantly comfortable about her coming back to us when she does. Like a childhood friend you invite over on a visit home. Expectations low, a gesture out of respect for the past. But suddenly it’s two am and you’re on the couch watching an old DVD of Strangers with Candy and making each other laugh sleepy, sweatpants laughs against your respective couch cushions.
These posts are an old friendship that slides right into place when she’s with us and doesn’t have anything to prove to us in the meantime, and I’m incredibly thankful whenever she makes one.
I just thought about Allie today and how much I miss her.
The Rumblr’s in-house astrologer, Madame Clairevoyant, presents her latest dispatch from the stars:
Aries: This may be a deeply annoying week, full of things that make you mad. Sometimes, though, anger is good, sometimes it can feed you and keep you alive. Just try to also go outside and say hello to your neighbors, try to remember to call your brother back, try not to get so mad at the people who love you but don’t understand you well enough. Anger is not a bad thing: It won’t devour you if you don’t let it, if you think about other people, if you take good care of your plants.
Most weeks are deeply annoying.
Spotted at yesterday’s New Jersey marathon. Is there a name for turning an internet meme into a hand-written sign?

For Sanobs. So proud.
I had too many bills in April so I’ve been having Weet-bix for lunch all week which has been making me feel even more sad but today I made the Weet-bix, paused, and then squirted a huge load of strawberry topping into it so now I’m feeling a lot better.
New lunch plan.
I made tortilla chips last night. -
“Stale” corn or flour tortillas get new life by making them into chips. Or use fresh tortillas. Nothing like homemade! Yum!
Today I finally got to meet Caragh which makes today one of my favorite days ever. There were puppies, and Prospect Park, and ice cream sandwiches, and coffee, and laughter, so much laughter. She sat outside of a dog park with me for an hour which is usually a weird activity I would do alone, but I got to do it with Caragh which made a dog park better than it already is. She is genuinely one of the nicest women I have ever met and it all made me feel like good things are headed my way. So lucky to call her friend.
Two of my fav three tumblr women! Hanging out! At a dog park! A bit jealous.
So excited for celebratory dinner in honour of @eagranieyuh and #HandsomeHamish. W/ @vanragazine (at Golden Ocean Seafood Restaurant)
Heard really good things about this dinner. Wonder if the dessert was chocolate?

Grizzly up from long winter's nap -
A Parks Canada video shows a grizzly bear doing some stretches after a long winter’s slumber.
I want to snuggle this teddy bear.
Oh wow this brings up lots of feels. Should probably spend some time sorting them out. Beer first.
