At one point I was pushing upward with my head, which seemed like a good idea at the time, but clearly was not. Somehow I ended up with slivers on my chest, too. The second log was moved a bit more smoothly, as we’d figured out what leverage was (as Emily noted — it was like watching evolution), and then the third and largest log slid into place like we were seasoned veterans of driftwood deck building. I’m pretty sure we maneuvered the third log as Annie and Emily had been telling us to do the previous two. But we’re men, and Brian has muscles.
